Resolutions for the New Year

I can’t believe that 2014 is nearly here! And with it, comes so many new opportunities and experiences. As the new year draws closer and closer, I want to make some resolutions I can actually keep that will not only enhance my experience at Elmhurst, but will help me in the ever constant process of growing and changing as a person.

Resolution 1. Try to say “yes” more often. Elmhurst has so much to offer and I want to experience as much of it as I can.

Resolution 2. Read more. As an English major, you’d think this would hardly be a problem for me. But with all the demands of class, a decent social life, etc, making time has proved a challenge. This year, I resolve to visit the public library more and take advantage of their vast collection and beautiful space. I want to get back into the habit of doing something I love.

3. Keep it interesting. It’s frighteningly easy for me to get stuck into a routine that becomes almost robotic after a while. This year I want to incorporate more spontaneity into my weekly routine. Go into town more often, maybe treat myself to Chipotle instead of the usual turkey sandwich I get from the school library. Variety is the spice of life, and I no longer want to do myself a disservice by not experiencing as much of it as I can.

I have confidence that I’ll be able to keep to these resolutions and make the most out of these approaching semesters as well as 2014.

Have a great New Year, everyone!
